Water and electricity don't mix

This little job was fault finding why a pair of outdoor IP rated sockets were tripping the main RCD when switched on.
It turned out that they had become damaged with the case being cracked and allowing water to enter the electrical part of the socket and isolator.
New isolators and sockets were installed and the owners of the business were advised that outdoor waterproof sockets, whilst designed to keep out the rain, are not designed to prevent jests of water entering the equipment.
After installation additional sealant was used to minimise water ingress.
